Effects of Alcohol & Alcoholism WSR Madatyaya
Kamath Nagaraj, Kulkarni Pratibha
Alcoholism can be defined as abnormal behaviour associated with excessive use of alcohol, which is not a stimulant, as it is generally believed to be. Rather, it is a depressant which reduces the rationale level of the individual, enabling him or her to act in the way he or she wants to act, which in normal state, due to rational inhibition, he or she will not do. The treatment of alcoholics should be based on a wholesome approach which should be a combination of drug therapy, psychotherapy and socio-therapy.
