Gout is a disease that results from an overload of uric acid in the body. This overload of uric acid leads to the formation of tiny crystals of urate that deposit in tissues of the body, especially the joints. There is an increasing prevalence of gout and hyperuricemia worldwide due to increasing access to high caloric foods and greater prevalence of obesity, increasing life expectancy and use of predisposing medications like diuretics and fructose in beverages. According to ayurveda, gout is a result of the imbalance of the vata dosha which upsets the blood circulation of the body and the best way to treat it is by rebalancing the dosha.
